AO

Project Details

We worked with the AO development team to create a brand package incorporating a logo, business card, signage and collateral. The visual identity of AO extended out of their brand philosophy: eclectic but not cluttered, neutral but not bland, serene but not austere, stuffy or fussy. Typographically, we nodded to the refined elegance of vintage fashion magazines by relying heavily on modern and transitional serif fonts. Juxtaposing this classic style, we subtly layered in whimsical details such as font shifts, scale changes, and exaggerated flourishes to reflect the spirit AO. The color palette is primarily neutral with subtle color punches coming in through sparingly used accent colors. These convey the refined, mature, and cozy aspects of the AO brand.

Arriviste

Arriviste

Project Details

Arriviste reached out with the intention of creating an elevated coffee packaging design which could be produced in small custom batches. We were brought into the project as they were planning the launch of their own coffee roasts in late 2020. We worked with them in producing custom packaging which embodied the aesthetic of their brand. The key inspirations in designing the bags and labels were sashiko patterns and obi strips. An additional component we solved for was that the coffee would all be brewed in small batches and the labels would need to be easily updatable by the staff. This was achieved by producing a small run of full coverage printed bags, and creating a dynamic template which allowed for quick edits to be made on the labels as the need arose.

Beauty Shoppe

Beauty Shoppe

Project Details

We had the opportunity to design interior and exterior signage for the flagship Beauty Shoppe location. We were inspired by the framework of the brand’s new wall construction and the textiles which we acquired as part of the interior’s art program. This led us to produce a hand-stitched reception sign and to screen print door signage on custom flags. The wayfinding structures nod to the frames of wall construction and take additional inspiration from the large scale weavings which hang in the main meeting area. Rounding out the project, we hand painted the bathroom doors using hints of color that are reflected in the interior design details throughout the space.

Bones & All

Bones & All

Project Details

Bones & All approached us with the goal of creating a sales card which could be used both to highlight their recent product photography and speak to their creative potential. In an effort to mimic the Bones & All ethos, we intentionally allowed the main image grid to be slightly chaotic while also retaining an elegant and organized structure. The flip-side of the card speaks to the Bones & All design and concept process, utilizing an illustration of their Falling Water coffee table.

The Boulevard at Grant Park

The Boulevard at Grant Park

Project Details

We partnered with the interior design team at CID Design Group to develop the logo and branding package for The Boulevard at Grant Park, a contemporary apartment complex in the heart of one of Atlanta’s oldest neighborhoods. The resulting logo system elevated Atlanta’s Grant Park iconography and drew on the historic zoo located in close proximity to the apartment complex. We illustrated several of the original zoo residents, but the bobcat stuck out to all teams and throughout the rest of the process he became known as Bruce!

Frick Park Clay Courts

Frick Park Clay Courts

Project Details

Frick Park Clay Courts reached out in the spring of 2021 looking create a t-shirt and new logo to celebrate the yearly reopening of the courts on Memorial Day. FPCC had intentions of working through a rebrand, but were focused on creating a drifty, custom illustration focused on the natural beauty of the courts and surrounding forest. Following the T-shirt, we worked with FPCC on the creation of a logo package. The focus was placed on organic structures, the graceful movement of tennis, and a hazy palette of restrained colors. The resulting logo is rooted in motion, energy, and drifty vibes.

Marea Apartments

Marea Apartments

Project Details

We partnered with CID Design Group in a naming exercise and a logo and branding package for a new apartment development in Naples, Florida. We collectively landed on a name which evoked the property’s proximity to the water and Naples’ iconic beaches. The name Marea (Spanish & Italian for tide) resonated as a simple sounding word which related to water. We wanted our logo to evoke a classic nautical feel with a few twists. Mimicking the cycle of the tides, we overlaid a subtle sine wave through the logo, gently warping the crossbars of the ‘A’ and ‘R’ to align with the wave. This gives the logo a soft underlying rhythm which reinforces the connection to water.

Mulberry Lofts

Mulberry Lofts

Project Details

In tandem with Mulberry Lofts interiors package, we developed a logo and style guide for the brand identity. The logo is based on a modern sans serif, Akzidenz Grotesk. While maintaining the overall rhythm and legibility of the font, we playfully augmented several letterforms. The result is minimal and conveys the strength through the bold font, but additionally has several unexpected quirks: the merged “m-u” and angular “r”s each providing subtle intrigue. “Lofts” is tucked asymmetrically, beneath the “r”s, aligning with the tail of the “y.” This organization is tidy and puts emphasis on the mirrored resemblance of the capital “L” and simplified “r”-shapes.

The Print Party

Project Details

We were given the opportunity to design a logo and brand style guide for a new Pittsburgh based traveling pop-up shop. The Print Party is a mobile magazine, book, and poster vendor. They offer a traveling zine kiosk which can be utilized at popup events or occupy spaces on a short term basis. The logo and identity evokes the myriad print processes involved in zine creation over the years. This gritty, lo-fi approach is united with a vibrant color palette and animated typography to add a loud layer of excitement and set the brand tone to “party”.

Tunnel Monster Collective

Tunnel Monster Collective

Project Details

Pittsburgh-based board game developers Tunnel Monster Collective approached us to design brand assets and web mockups to accompany their recently designed logo. TMC wanted their brand language to evoke a Turn of the Century meets Blade Runner aesthetic, but more than this, they wanted a brand identity that skewed playful rather than dark. We accomplished this by blending a decorative serif font along with more modern san serifs, and choosing intentionally stark color combos. We then developed a visual language employing collaged public domain imagery. This layer ties the brand elements together by highlighting the quirky and more irreverent perspective which TMC brings to their products.

Veldt

Project Details

While working to establish their web presence, Veldt contacted us to shoot their product photography in a more conceptual fashion. In an effort to further elevate their brand, differentiate from typical fragrance product photography, and create a covid-safe collaborative project plan we undertook creating digital photo collages for each fragrance. These were accompanied by laydowns of the sample bottles. We drew inspiration from the existing logo and brand colors, as well as Veldt’s unique differentiators (and personal photo collection).

Zoar Finance

Zoar Finance

Project Details

412mgmt came to us looking for a new name and updated branding. We undertook a collaborative naming exercise and created a logo, styleguide, and provided a Squarespace update. Through much soul searching we arrived at a new name: Zoar Finance. The word Zoar (noun: a place of refuge) felt particularly well suited to Matt’s personality and style of business. His team specializes in providing a personal relationship to their clients along with sound financial advice. Once we had landed on Zoar, we built out the visual identity, keeping in tact the overall flavor of his previous brand. We leaned into the influence of hand painted signs and created a logo which showcases the personal touch baked into the Zoar ethos.
